iPhone won't retrieve emails unless I open the Mail app

Has anybody installed 2.2 and found that the email issues have been corrected?

Quite honestly, I'm afraid to install it in fear that the email problems will persist or be worse and that another feature on which I rely will be broken.

it is explicitly mentioned that this particular bug is fixed so it is fixed.

Sorry to bring back an old thread, but at least I searched.

I am using a 3GS and my mail won't retrieve unless I open it (it never retrieves it automatically). I have Yahoo and Mobile Me set to Push and GMail to retrieve after 15 min. Does anybody know a solution for this?

Mine seems spotty. I'm using yahoo on push and it sometimes does push, but sometimes I get 5 hour old emails when I open mail.
