I'm having the same problem with my 16gb 3GS. I thought it was a jailbroken app i downloaded so I uninstalled it and even restored my phone but it still doesn't get detected in My Computer. Any thoughts?

Edit: Well I just uninstalled the iPhone through Window's device manager and now its working

I was having the same problem (XP Pro SP3) when it had been working before. The problem only seems to occur if I plug in the USB cable when the phone is on the lock screen. Unlock the phone and then plug the cable into the computer.

My iPhone will not show up in My Computer. It is charging but doesn't show up. Anyone know what to do?

I spent hours trying to figure this out including uninstalling everything and reinstalling itunes and drivers, usb drivers. I tried manually extracting the msi files from the itunes installer and manually updating drivers..... If you are running windows 7 and have this problem you need to install media feature pack
