iPhone won't sync playcounts back to iTunes

I don't know if this is an iphone/iOS issue or an iTunes issue, when I plug my phone into my computer, any plays I accumulated on my music will not be added to their count in my iTunes library. My old 80GB iPod still syncs the plays just fine. Anybody know why this is/how to fix it?


I registered just to post this question. I've googled this multiple times and never find the info I'm looking for so I figured I might as well just ask.

I've noticed this with my iPhone 6 as well...actually it didn't sync play count on my iPhone 5c either...eh oh well...

It's not some massive problem, but it's very annoying because I build smartlists through iTunes using playcounts and ratings, among other things.

So if I get a new album and play the hell out of it but it still shows 0 plays it throws a wrench in that
