I jailbroke my phone last week and it's been fine thus far.

Today I replaced the default font via SSH, and then restarted my iPhone. It now won't turn on! The Apple logo is all I see, and then the spinning/loading icon appears for a few seconds then it stops spinning. The only way I could turn it back off was to hold down the Home and Lock button.

I replaced the LockClock.ttf font with another one. However, the font file wasn't .ttf it was .otf. Could this be the reason?

Possibly. The only reason it could be is becaused you SSH'd. Nothing else, since you didn't do anything other than SSH a font.

But is it actually working now?

The same thing is happening :( stuck on the Apple logo

I connected It to my Mac, and it shows up on iTunes (Sync etc...)... But the phone it self is still stuck on the Apple logo.

Can it be restored if not try a DFU restore I bet the file type is what messed it up the only reason I see to SSH is to add games to NES or PS1!

i would suggest restoring in DFU mode and staying away from SSH until you know exactly what you're doing.

A DFU restore will wipe everything from the iPhone. But you can restore your data from a backup, which is stored everytime you sync.

To put the iPhone in DFU mode, and restore it, do the following
    1. Make sure the device is off and disconnected from your computer
    2. Push and hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons, and as you do plug it into your Mac (this needs to be done within 2 seconds)
    3. Keep holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons for a further 10 seconds
    4. Release the Sleep/Wake button, but continue to hold the Home button for another 10 seconds
    5. The screen should have turn blank by now, the deivce will be totally unresponsive and iTunes should say it's detected an iPod in recovery mode etc etc
    6. Hold Alt and click 'Restore' in iTunes, then choose your firmware preferably the custom one)

If you restored to a Firmware made with PwnageTool, the iPhone should be Jailbroken. If you restored to a normal Firmware, you'll need to Jailbreak again. After doing so, you can restore your iPhone backup.

Thanks, I've tried loads of times now. But the iTunes logo keeps appearing on the iPhone screen. I then get the message in iTunes about restoring etc... But the screen won't stay black.

Then you didn't enter DFU mode properly. It can take a few attempts.

The screen finally remained black, but I got this message in iTunes. I've tried again, but it happened again.

Forget it :( I've resorted to restoring my iPhone by the normal method, not DFU as I couldn't get it to work. Looks like I'll have to Jailbreak again.

Is there any way of me retrieving any of my lost data? If so, how do I do it?

    Thanks.
