Be sure that your iTunes is up-to-date and that you're updating through iTunes and not pointing to a third-party ISPW.
No im downloading straight from itunes and unless its downloading the wrong OS then i have no idea, itunes is up to date.

Absolutely nothing to do with the question.
To the OP: try using a different USB port and if that doesn't work try a different computer. You can always take the phone to the genius bar and they will update it for you.
