From the Apple news outlets around the world, they mention that all flagship phones will come with a TrueDepth Camera system, do you think those iPhones will start coming in USB-C? This will be a game changer if it does. It started off with the Macbooks/Pro, why not finally introducing it to the new iPhonX/8s+/9's?

How is USBC a game changer?

Even as a “computer” port it’s not making the impact that Apple (or the industry) claimed it would. And I think most “normal users” find it to be an annoyance because it’s a new plug that costs more and requires new hardware yet does the same thing as the last plug. (And I say that as someone who likes USB-C)

So imagine how that change goes over on the typical iPhone user. (Yes. I know. The 30pin argument. But still...)

The focus for 2018 will probably be the 6.5" display and better antenna design.

USB-C suffers from the "not invented here" syndrome.

Apple invented the iPhone and they won't put USB-C on it unless something changes drastically.

How’s true depth camera system related to them having usb c?!

I meant more on the lines of streamlining their phone line. Supposedly the new LCD iPhones will come with a true depth camera system. Like how the TouchID was embedded into the MacBooks, it's possible that iPhones could finally adopt USB-C connectors like the MacBooks have for a few years now.

More of a figure of speech, but if you have a USB-C version of an iPhone, there is likelihood that people will jump to it for that reason. A weird one, but better is better than none I guess?

USB-c is a gamechanger. I'm sure there are people still using PS/2 and parallel plugs as well. Regardless if people resist adoption to save a few bucks, people are already seeing the benefits and the manufacturers of peripherals are getting in on it as well. It's just new and people don't like change. It can literally be the one plug that does it all as wireless becomes more ubiquitous, usb-c can do everything else. I don't think it'll come to the iPhone in the near future though. Lightning is as good a port for mobile devices, and Apple and people have invested in Lightning already. I hope I'm wrong though.

^^This^^ Also, all the MacBooks/Pros have gone all USB-C. That says something. The only reason for Apple to keep Lightning cables is for proprietary reasons and keep the market share for that item and sell more first party adapters and peripherals.

Unlike MacBook, iPhone doesn't need the I/O capabilities of USB-C.

Zero chance of any non-proprietary connector on any iOS device. Appple is never going to make accessories cheaper and with the MFi program then get a nice cut of the accessoriy sales.
