So the beauty of AT&T next (and other programs) was that you paid for half the phone, turned it in, and got the latest and greatest. Apple comes through with a new phone every year at the same time so that works.

Along comes the X with it's delayed release. That means a minimum of two more payments on the phone.... I guess at that point it makes more sense to pay it off and own it, then sell it. Disappointed in that aspect becaust it was so much easier to just turn in the phone last year. But I'm too cheap to allow them 2 extra payments (or more if delivery is delayed past Nov 3, which is probably going to happen!

I don't really see what the problem is here when you committed to making payments for a specified time. Apple is not trying to "screw you over" they simply just did not have enough time for supply to meet demand, especially given how late the phone went into production after all of the Touch ID under the screen rumors.

I never said apple was trying to screw me over. I am saying that if I make more payments then just turn in the phone after having paid more than the 50% required that I'm getting screwed... but not by apple (and it's not at&t's fault either)... it just is what it is.

And at that point, it's a better deal for me to pay the remaining balance that is way less than 50% and sell the phone.

what it is, is more of a hassle cuz I have to go through the whole selling thing. It was easier to just turn in the phone after paying the required minimum amount. I'm not willing to pay them MORE than the minimum and still give them back the phone.

Maybe they'll make some kind of concession for those that have been using IUP in September since the program became available.

I'm with you. Don't want to pay more than the minimum and end up having to give the current phone back anyway...

Two extra payments are close to $100....and then if the next iPhone is released in September 2018 you'd have to make 2 more payments in order to be at the 12 payment minimum to upgrade. That would be close to $200. At that point, we'd be better off keeping our phones for another year or selling them ourselves. It's a little bit of a hassle to sell it yourself but I'm not willing to pay more than the minimum either.
