Hello,

I am new to this forum so apologies if has already been answered.

I purchased iPhone X and Macbook Pro 13 few days back. I have been using iPhone from a very long time but never had Mac before. I want to buy protection plan for both devices and I understand there are so many companies offering such plans and it all depends on individual's needs and risk tolerance level.

Me and my wife (both iPhone owners) have been taking good care of our devices for several years but with iPhone X, I am little worried if something happens, it won't be pleasing. Also, this is our first Macbook and after spending $1400, I want to ensure I can use it for long term.

There are just so many options (warranty and Insurance), it is overwhelming to compare them - Apple Care, Geek Squad, AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Worth Ave Group, Safeware, Wells Fargo, Square Trade etc.

I am ready to do my research and chose the one best for me but should I eliminate any of the above options (based on your experience)? My needs are protecting my devices from manufacture defects, cracked screens, spills and water damage, theft, accidental damage etc.

Any help will be highly appreciated and valuable.

Thanks!

For Mac don't get AppleCare if you are worried that YOU might damage it. The Apple Care offered for Mac only cover manufacture defects, not for cracked screens. However, I do have AppleCare for my 2015 MacBook Pro, haven't used it yet, but its like a stress free card for three years (I am careful with my products, so I am not worried about damaging them myself).

I too got the iPhone X, but without any type of coverage. Yes it is hella expensive if you crack the screen, so I just put a tempered glass on it, and am praying for the best. Never had a cracked display in the past, so I am not too worried. But if you want to spend the extra bills, might as well get Apple Care Plus, but I personally think you don't need it as it seems like you can take care of it well.
