I've run for years with different iPhones and an armband. During my run I usually change audio sources a couple of times (SiriusXM, podcast, music, etc.). Currently I can switch fairly easily with Siri, but I always get "You need to unlock your iPhone first" which necessitates craning my next to type the passcode. Even with a case that has a TouchID cutout I need to use the passcode because TouchID won't read my sweaty fingers.

My question is this: How easily does iPhone X fall back to passcode entry? Do you have to let FaceID fail a few times first, or is there a "enter passcode" option on the wake screen? Obviously FaceID won't work when it's in the armband, so as I wait for my X to arrive I'm wondering just how much my running routine will have to be adjusted.

Unlike with TouchID where it let you try about three times, FaceID only gives me one try. I can't even take my face out of the camera's line of sight and try again. It just stays at the lock screen.
