I have seen no mention of if there is a Taptic Engine for force feedback in the iPhone X.

I understand it wouldn't be needed for the home button like in the 7 but surely it will still be good to have along side 3D touch?

Can anyone can confirm?

Curious about this myself. Taptic engine was pretty big, so maybe that went to a bigger battery instead? It would seem like a pretty big feature to remove though... surely there have been other uses for it other than the home button press, like games, etc? What about vibrating when the ringer is on silent mode?

I can't confirm or deny but I can share some insight. The company I work for helps make some components that are involved in the Taptic feedback engine. We just released our public Q2 forecast and the growth is in line with the same time frame last year where our component was featured in the iPhone 7. Does this mean for certain that Taptic is alive in iPhone 8 / X? Not necessarily but it's certainly a small sliver of hope that it may be.

Thinking about it more, it must be in there even if just for the silent/vibrate mode of the ringer. It would be really, really strange to not have a vibrate option for that. Could be a simple vibrator instead of the taptic engine though.

3D touch would be hard to use without it. i'm sure they have it in there
