I got an apple iPhone X today and I paid the full price. They said that the phone had to be activated.

If I am paying the full price, why does the phone need to be activated? I was going to swap it on my account to use on another line. But now, as soon as I turn the X on, it will deactivate one of the sims on my account.

If it is full price, shouldn't they give it to me clear of activation?

If I decide to sell it, do I have to open the box and remove the sim card? I am not sure if I will keep it. I was awake at 6am this morning and happened to get an alert that the phone was in stock and I pulled the trigger. I am still not convinced of the form factor yet.

Open the box, use the phone.

If you cannot do that, sell the phone.

Unlocked phones do not have to be "activated" or whatever. You turn them on, associate them with an iCloud account, insert an active SIM card and start using it. That's it.

They gave you incorrect information. Take your SIM card out of your current phone and put it into the new one. No activation required.

Paid full price for VZW model. Opened box, removed VZW SIM. Installed TMob SIM. Plugged X into iTunes to restore from backup. Updated carrier settings when prompted. Restored backup. Installed apps. Use phone now on TMob.

Im thinking of doing the same. If you dont mind me asking where and how did you buy the Verizon model? Do you need to have an account with the Verizon to buy?

I tried to get the Verizon model from apple but its asking me to verify my Verizon account which obviously i dont have.

You have to buy at the store, not through reservation system online. I️ showed up last Saturday and they reserved one for me on the spot. Paid full price and using it now on my ATT account.

Bought at B&M Apple Store as walk-in. That’s the only way w/o a VZW a/c AFAIK.

I️ never opened the ATT one I️ returned. However, I’m working on LTE and it works without any problems. Very fast

Just in case this might help anyone... t-mobile customer here. I went to the Christiana Mall in Newark, DE hoping to walk in and buy a Verizon iPhone X (full price) but was told that their store only accepts online reservations because DE is tax-free. It was a little frustrating because they had them in stock but couldn't sell me one.

You can only make reservation if you are a Verizon customer. Apple don't have sim free version of iPhone X yet. It sucks!

Why not walk over the a computer and "reserve" one then tell them you have one reserved?
