iPhone X auto lock time

My iPhone X locks after 30 seconds regardless of time set in settings.

Is this a bug or just my phone? Anyone else got this?

I haven't spent time with my X yet. I won't be home to play with it u til Wednesday, but the Verge review mentioned that Face ID will turn off the display when it notices you are not paying attention to the device. This most surely is a setting that can be adjusted maybe in the face id settings? Poke around and see if this is switchable..

I had issues with auto lock and Googled it and there were links all the way back to 2013 about issues with it. I messed around with it ... shut down phone, etc. and it is working now.

They added an option for 30 seconds on. You have to change it in the menu back to your preferred time.

I believe it's part of the burn-in prevention.

Yeah, it's usually shorter on home screens since iOS 10 or so, probably for power conservation purposes.

The X has awareness features which will keep the display from turning off while not using, I'm sure it also works in the opposite direction... you can change this in Face ID/Passcode settings.
