You can merge 5 min clips together easily but you can't convert mono to stereo ... still a big fail with Iphone :p

Yeah if the device cost 250 dollars. But for a flagship device at flagship prices kind of lame, especially since Samsung used the camera as a tent pole feature to differentiate the s8 from the s9.

Maybe next year they can remove the cap?

By the time you started up the next 5 minutes you’ve already missed important footage you can never retake. Fail for Samsung s9. Mono>stereo.:)

Mono audio can play over my 7.1 surround sound system. It sounds crisp and clear and loud.
The 4K @60fps looks great on my 4K tv.

Too bad Samsung can’t record over 5 min at 4K, yet they keep charging flagship prices.
I would take video quality and sound vs getting 30 FPS more that looks fake. Higher FPS does not mean better FYI.

You can sugar coat it all you want, mono is mono. $10 says you also have a SS HTiB, if you think mono sounds great, then you really dont know sound quality...... Then again... you record in 4k only to have it lower to subpar video quality... Lower bitrate per frame, more noise and loss of EIS..... But hey! You get 60 FPS!

Yet the X is over 1k and can only record in Mono. I can already see it in the next iphone, finally stereo recording and you will praise saying it sounds way better.....

The video provided details that shooting @60 FPS
Adds a a bit of noise and sacrifices a little bit of clarity due to the hi shutter speed inherent with shooting @60fps, however that does afford you a much smoother image.
No duh .
I mean you have used a manual camera right?
Increasing the iso and shutter speed in low light always does that.

Sugar coat it? You seem to be splitting hairs.
I prefer the mono Chanel when recording home movies compared to the stereo channel offered on the s8, again due to the increase in background noise, which can be very distracting. Playing it back on my 7.1 setup, results in much better clearer audio.

If 4K @60fps was as bad as you claim it to be Samsung wouldn’t have included it, they did. But they gimped it to 5 min, which to be fair is more than lame when your paying close to 1k for the s9+.

1k for the iPhone X, isn’t so bad when you consider:
A) the s9/s9+ offers a gimped version for a unilateral price point.
B) as per you me video the Panasonic camera offers 4K 60fps @ $4000 or canon $6000.
C) no other smartphone current is able to, without gimping it up.

Again not too bad when you consider the next option to shoot at 4K 60fps is either 4x or 6x the price of an iPhone X, unless you want a gimped version for a little less.

No idea what a ss htib is.

So again... you rather get more noise, loss of EIS, lose clarity, quality, and darker (sometimes OVER exposed) image just for getting higher frames at lower bitrate image per frame? Well.... that says everything.... There is more dynamic range loss in 4k 60 FPS than 1080 60 FPS on the iPhone as well....

SS HTiB = Home theater in box. Once again, im 100% sure you're going to praise the iPhone's sound quality when they record in Stereo. Funny.. you own a 8 channel system but is only being used as 1 channel lol

Both options are gimped, im not praising Samsung either you know... Hilarious if you think iPhone's recording isnt gimped... Wanna change ISO, shutter speed, clarity, etc on the iPhone? Guess what, you can't..

If you prefer that, A hero 6 records better at 4k 60 FPS than an iPhone 8/8+/X for half the price and more, just saying....

Guess you missed those "real world" tests (like encoding 4K video) where the Note 8 gets slaughtered by the iPhone X. Even the iPhone 7 was faster.

Cool, I've actually been looking for iPhone X video benchmarks, it's been hard to find.

Do you mind posting a few links? Thanks.
