Just curious if anyone plans on trying to keep X caseless or if protection will be a must? I wish these phones were tougher as I always use a case and screen protector out of fear of breaking my phone.

The resale value on these things is just too high not to put a case on it. I have gone through probably hundreds of plastic cases - I can't stand them, I don't like them.

Sena cases? The only case I've kept for more than a month (I kept it for 3.7 years). I got an 8+ just recently, was going to go nekkid but the glass back is slippery when you lay it down on anything. Got a plastic case, disliked it after a few days, got a Sena leather case - planning on keeping it for a few years. Just feels amazing in the hand, will keep the resale value of the phone and allow me to use it without the "oops" factor. No, I am not as good as @eyoungren :).

I realize you asked about the X - figured I'd chime in because I factor my use of a case on the resale value and the resale value of the X should be higher than the 8+.

I totally agree. However, being on the Next with AT&T where I can upgrade yearly, I do not worry about reselling my phone. Therefore, it is so tough to keep the case and screen protector on and not admire the beauty of the phone. Lol

I really wish I could go nekkid and admire the beauty of the phone. I really really wish I could. :)

I have had almost every iPhone since the 3G, and the only one I felt like required a case (purely because it was so damn slippery) was the 6.

I now have the jet black 7, and was thrilled to be able to ditch the case. Fingerprints don’t bother me, cases do. I absolutely loved the glass of the 4, and am looking forward to getting back to it.

Could I drop and shatter it? Anything is possible, but I tend not to catastrophically drop my phones (*knock wood*). Before I moved to AT&T Next, I sold my phones and got pretty good prices for them, as they had no-to-very-few blemishes.

I either go caseless or with a very thin, usually clear case, just to add a little bit of grip. I’ve never used a screen protector.

Caseless on every phone since the first iPhone. Use and appreciate the phone like you own it, not like you’re preserving it for someone else who may own it a year and a half from now. Get AppleCare. Factor the cost of one replacement per year in case it breaks, and IMO it’s still a great deal for a cutting edge jack of all trades pocket supercomputer that you use a hundred times a day all the while using it bare as it was intended and not worrying about every little scratch. Just can’t wrap my head around covering a device in plastic garbage made by a usually-tasteless company.

I absolutely hate cases, but to each their own.

I'll probably either get an apple case or just go completely naked. For sure I will use it naked nearly 50% of the time at the very least.

I initially got a quality skin for the iPhone X, with raised edges specifically to protect the screen, back and camera component. But a tiny flaw was found on the OLED display and after Apple replaced the unit, I decided to be doubly careful about the oleophobic coating which is fused to this newest version of the gorilla glass screen... so I got a wallet case with magnetic flap to hold the case close and made sure this was light as well. The great thing was this particular model from Uniq has a rubber/silicone case to hold the iPhone X instead of a solid TPU case.
