Hi all - just got my iPhone X and have two questions.

First, I ran the battery all the way down prior to my first charge to the point where the phone shut off. I then popped it on a wireless charger and nothing happened. I thought I read the phone communicates with the charger, so will charging only work if the phone is turned on? Or did I not give it enough time to get a charge and turn on?

Second, it's been a while since I got a new phone. What is the typical protocol these days for maintaining battery life? Are there certain cycles that need to be run or is it just use and charge whenever?

Thanks!
J

There is no typical protocol, just use it and charge it whenever you need to. When I first got my iPhone X, I charged it to full, used it to 40% then charged it full and I rarely let it go below 20%. I've done this with previous models and never had any issues with battery life.

Cool, thanks! Any thoughts on the first question of using wireless charging if the phone is dead or off?

If you ran it to "dead" then you may need to plug it into a charger for a while. Not a good idea in the future. Just charge your phone while sleeping and do not worry about your battery. If you have nothing to do and are living on your phone all day long, charge when you can.
