At first I assumed I was alone in experiencing this issue, but after shuffling through some posts on here, it looks like it is a post 11.2 software issue where when you dismiss either Reachability or the Control Center using the swipe up gesture, the iPhone X makes a very unusual and unnatural sounding clicking sound. It almost sounds like some metal grinding occurring inside, but I know it’s likely just a blend of haptic, sound, and vibration making it seem like it grinding.

Just wanted to see how many others have noticed this issue and if you have, I would suggest you go to Apple.com/feedback and describe word for word what is happening. The more people that complain, the more urgency and attention this issue is likely to receive.

Just noticed this after reading this post. But I keep my phone 99% on silent mode Without vibration. I think it’s with the haptic. Hopefully they will fix this in 11.2.1

Funny, if I dismiss the control center from the bottom I get the click you mention. If I dismiss from anywhere else on the center (just swipe from a blank space on the screen) I do not get the click.

There's a thread from yesterday (Sunday) running here on this issue already. This is a new bug in 11.2. Please file bug reports with Apple.
