iPhone X Clones Begin Surfacing in China With Notch-Inspired Designs

Apple you have become so reliant on China! Now you can't do this, you can't do that in China.
Now you have to allow cheap 'Knockoffs' of your iconic design; in any other country you would have jumped all over any manufacturer who dared sell cheap knockoffs of your products:(

Talk about "Tail wagging the dog"

Working 25 hours a day, 8 days a week with whips on their backs if you take a break and get paid $12 a month...nothing new to Chinese labor workforce. They are well known for blatantly copying brands without worries. I'm not surprised this happened as soon as it did.
 
Hard to find an in demand product that does not generate a knockoff following. An badge of honor to have knockoff’s of your product.:D

I have said it before, and I know others would disagree with this, but Apple is a trendsetter. They introduce capabilities or features that are controversial , but have a greater play in the future. It's just a matter if you have those who support or shun what Apple does.

LOL... These knockoffs are sad, but iPhone X notch are also sad. It can't even display battery percentage let along these award black row when you watching movies.

Rather have fast fingerprint censor than stupid FaceID crap. Rather have phone looks normal than this stupid notch

What clone? They only copied notch part there's no Face ID in Chinese knockoffs.
 
Oh but Apple will sue everybody and anyone but Chinese companies. That desperate to save a few labor dollars you'll "overlook" this issue? Wonderful ethics.

It’s easy to copy, takes time and money to be creative and design something new.

Of course they do because they have a strongly positive (aspirational) brand image.

Apple could launch a branded turd and the masses would buy it, the media would praise it and companies would use it as a standar/model.

Just picking this comment as a random jumping off point.. these are not major players like Oppo or Huawei who have big R&D and design divisions.

Companies like LEAGOO exist specifically to make visual clones of popular phones at a really low orice. It's their whole purpose.

Thus they also sell clones of popular Samsung, Xiaomi, etc phones. Not just Apple.

For example, they sell a Samsung S8 EDGE display clone with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage for about $120. For $240, they sell a Note 8 visual clone with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage, 5.9" 420PPI IPS LCD display, and so forth.

Yep, the clones are slower and they use LCD instead of OLED etc, but it's actually a bit amazing what the buyer gets for the price. Plus they get the visual look of a popular phone model so they don't feel socially left out. Heck, some people spend $1,000 just for the latter :)

For the same reasons, there are companies that knock off everything from FitBits to Rolexes to Gucci bags. It makes no sense to try to call such companies out for lack of originality. Copying is the whole point.

Knock offs are also made of watches, bags, tennis shoes, shirts, stereos, auto parts, and you name it.

More to the point here, this company knocks off a lot of phone brands.

So it's not validating any design as good or bad. It's validating the popularity of a product no matter what their design is :)
