At the Apple Store, lots of customers seemed to like Space Gray more than silver, what did you end up getting?

For me, I got SG. I thought after seeing all the reviews I would go for the Silver, but after going to the store and seeing the both side by side... I realized how much Silver was not for me because it wasn't really a "Space Gray" vs "Silver", in person looking at the phones was more "Black" vs "White". If it was like the darker/non-polished silver of previous iPhones I probably would have considered the Silver, but... not today.

1- Silver was White and not silver at all. I tried "covering my hand" over the back, which 'helped a little', but was still white.
2- Camera on Silver stood out even more than the SIlver
3- The logo and font are identical on both devices.
4- The Silver was more of a fingerprint magnet than the Space Gray thanks to glass surrounding both phones. The Stainless Steel polished band of the Silver is extremely prone to smudging.
5- I overheard multiple saying the Silver looks real busy.
6- When Silver was put into a case, the metal outline around the camera was very noticable and did not look good in cases.
7- The white band on the Silver sticks out like a sore thumb too.

Pre-Ordered SG. Saw Silver in reviews, and got hooked. Saw both in store, still undecided.

I wanted Space Gray, Apple store I went to did not have the color I wanted (Verizon, SG 256 GB). They only had the silver, 256 GB model (Verizon). So I opted to go with Silver. Still not my favorite but will do for the time being. I'll keep checking and if the SG is available before my return period, I'll gladly go and do an exchange.

So I usually walk to work and this morning I decided to go out a bit early just to see what then line was like. It was long. We were told that they would do a reservation and you could wait or you could put a reservation and the time you want to come. Well I had to work at 8 and the store employee didn't start yet. So I didn't want to be late for work, sure I could reach out to my boss but I'd rather not fuss up. Got off work at 1 pm and then decided to walk back to the apple store and there were 0 lines. But they only had silver. ugh. I still like it but much prefer the Space Gray.

Interesting thread actually. Was always SG but was open to the silver so went into store this morning. The silver kinda grabs you and says buy me, it kinda duped me into thinking I wanted it. I resisted the temptation and just went home to wait for my SG, since I've had it in my hand there is absolutely no way I'm going to silver. The seamless quality of the SG from all angles is beautiful and the glass back makes it what the jet black should've been.

Don't let the silver fool you kids

Thanks OP. I only saw the silver at Best Buy.

Will head to the Apple Store to really check the space gray. The silver X is prone to smudges even on the back.

I feel the space gray 8 has oleophobic coating on the rear. Repelled way less smudges than the jet black 7 next to it.

I still have some time to change my mind thanks to not getting it today.
