Im in the UK and going away early December. I was hoping to have a new phone/camera for this. Do you think I will have the X before December if I pre order?

Well that just depends on how early you pre-order on the 27th Oct.

I plan to call my network provider first thing that morning to upgrade to a 256gb iPhone X so I expect I will receive it on launch day 3rd Nov just like i did with my iPhone 7.

Sounds hopeful. Are you able to pre-order 2 from Apple, choose a colour and then send one back?

No idea, I've never ordered more than one phone from Apple at a time and I imagine they wouldn't allow it due to stock limitations. Many companies employ the one product per customer.

Usually maximum of 2 per customer with Apple.

iPhone 7 was not in as much demand as the 7+ however hopefully given that there are only 4 configurations (2 storage sizes in 2 colours) it might be easier this time.
