I would like to initiate a thread of which we can all share our experiences of dropping the iPhone X and the results. This would be nice so we have an idea of what to expect in different situations, and cases that may different outcomes.

Not mine, but I've read a post tonight that a guy dropped his phone which was in the Apple Leather Case, 3-4 feet on tile flooring. Other than the Zagg glass protector cracking, the phone came out fine with no damage... so did the leather case. Just wanted to start off the thread with this :)

Please do mention if you have AppleCare + or estimated/actual costs of repair.

Dropped my phone twice already. The first time I had a caudabe lucid clear case and dropped it on tile from about three feet. The case had a small crack on top of it where the camera is. The phone came out fine. After that, I decided that a screen protector was needed. I used a orzly. At work the next day I dropped it from about four feet. It fell on its face. The screen protector shattered but the case and phone were ok.
I have Apple care + and so glad I do.

Now it’s in a new caudabe lucid clear case (used one of the warranty replacements) and an iblason screen protector.

Hopefully I wont Be dropping it again now that I’m getting used to how slippery this case is.

I have dropped my phone twice. Once at work on to a carpeted floor. Once in the garage from the level of the car seat. I have an Apple leather case. Both times I took the case off to see if there was any damage. Not a scratch. I am not going to be putting a screen protector. The only reason I might put is because the surface is too buttery smooth and I am having problems in using Swype for text input.

Dropped my phone this morning.
It has a case around it, back, sides, everything is fine... except for a dent in the screen (damnit!).

Could've been prevented with a screen protector, but i was too stubborn to use one.

Now going to the apple store on Saturday to see if the screen can be repaired without waiting for a long time, or i'll consider getting a new iPhone X and keep the old one till screen repair times are at it's normal rate 3-5 days and then give it to my girlfriend

Thanks for sharing...Like they say, we learn the hard way. Hopefully, no more spills.

Glad to hear that an Apple Leather Case can actually protect the X.

I am extremely careful with my iPhone's, never dropped or damaged till date. Also i am using my X in a Apple silicone case and a screen protector.

my X fell off the couch today onto my tile and crack the glass and the touch part of the screen stopped working
after 199 apple care and 29 at the apple store I left with a new replacement X

Did you have Apple Care prior to the drop? Just curious..

Apparently it's $549 without AppleCare for anything other than the screen. Quite a bit ridiculous...

If It's ridiculous, then somebody would have the common sense to purchase Apple care if they truly believe they needed it or didn't want to take the risk of breaking their phone by accident.

Let me get this straight: They let you buy insurance AFTER the damage was caused and KNEW that was the situation?
Dude totally not a big deal. I've called AppleCare to get a mail in screen replacement and they will tell you that if you buy AppleCare and then get the replacement you'll save money.

Dude, of course you will save money but that is not how insurance works. It has to be in place first. What you describe is like having a car accident and THEN obtaining insurance to cover the damage.

It’s $299 with AC+ though (includes cost of AC) . A $250 difference doesn’t seem that big for the off chance your phone breaks.
[doublepost=1510765682][/doublepost]I dropped my phone for the first time yesterday. I’m surprised it hasn't happened sooner because I’m normally really clumsy, but I’ve been trying to be more careful. It was on the edge of my dresser and fell face first on my wood floor. It fell about 3 feet. The phone is in a thin Spingen case and there’s no damage to the phone or case.

I have seen apple due this many times around the launch of a phone, they won't do this in 6 months though.

That's why AC+ is so expensive now. There are a TON of claims so the cost of it keeps going up year after year to reflect that. AC+ was a much better deal when it first came out. Now it's hard to say that. (For screen repairs it's still pretty good, due to the lower deductible).
