Ok, so I'm still on iPhone 6 ready to upgrade and so I waited to see the X in person before making a final decision. Was leaning towards 8 anyway but wanted to try them both and see which one I like more.
I gotta say, that playing with X made me realise that I am not happy with Apple and what they did. Why? Well, here are my reason (good and bad)

1) its very expensive
2) the notch - if the background is dark then its not a massive problem but as soon as you swipe to white background (like mail) its there and its annoying. It feels like I have a sticker on the phone that is blocking the display. Just not a fan of it. I did LOVE when I watched a movie and had the movie in the small factor so I got black bars on either sides. That looked visually nice and elegant. If the notch was solved like that I would be fine
3) the display - the size is big and its nice, but what I didn't like is the colour shifting. First I thought it was something to do with true tone but the other article mentioned that its a property of OLED so nope.
4) no button - i know it takes some time to getting used to it but I actually didn't like how certain things behave. Ie. to bring opened apps i have to swipe up and hold - that kinda was a bit too slow

Design etc. is great, the display size is super nice and its great to see better use of space but in all honesty, I'm not really ready to support Apple with this. The price & the notch are the main reasons - the rest I could maybe live with but not THE NOTCH and the price!

So, as a result I'm going to buy iPhone 8 tomorrow and see how this game pans out in 2-3 years again. I hope Apple will see that that price tag is just crazy for certain people and will align it with the rest next year or the year after. Sorry but £1150 for an iPhone is just way too much.

On the other hand, its a great concept and I like that we will see better products soon. iPhone X might be technological marvel right now but I don't like how its implemented so its a pass for me. iPhone 8 it is :)

Anyone else feels the same?

Wow, this things incredible. Screen is the best I’ve seen. Size is right in the sweet spot. Screen area just as good as my plus. Face ID working really well. Super quick and the gestures are already becoming normal to me. Definitely some UI quirks so far but they’ll be ironed out as apps get updated.

I came from a 6+
I love this phone. It’s sexy, & different.

If Apple sticks with this notch, as long as they did with the bezels (5+years)....I’ve got some bad news for you. Might want to look elsewhere (Android)

The X isn't going to be for everyone. Even arrogant Apple realizes this. If your first and biggest gripe is the price, all other things are amplified.

The iPhone X was not meant for everyone, because it's not just about the price point, but it's about all the other features that somebody may not want to utilize and Touch ID is still preferred by many. But I credit Apple, they have an expensive iPhone lineup and price points for everyone.

It's like my Galaxy S8 with a little less brilliant screen and an amazingly flawless (so far) Face-ID. The Galaxy equiv to face ID was a major fail for me. Never worked, this hasn't failed me yet including w/sunglasses, Really remarkable how good it works.

Good luck with the 8. Good thing you played with the X before you made your decision. Some people take a little more time to get use to change. You might want to give it a 10 day try before you skip the most amazing Device apple has ever made. The Screen is OLED. Just like the TV in my house. The Home button was a extra function. That held iOS back. Face Id . You don't have to worry about your screen turning off while you reading a article or web page. I understand not wanting change but you wouldn't buy a flip phone today. Because you loved T9 in 2007.

Lets hope apple keeps the 8 line and continues development there too. Having thought about the X more I remembered what was the other thing that kinda was not ideal for me. The huge screen made me almost used both hands as I don't have big hands and even jump to 6 was a struggle. The extra screen space on X forced me to reposition my hand each time i wanted to swipe up. (I found a trick how to hold my 6 and have a range for the whole phone but that means i hold the phone in the middle-ish. With X I kinda need to hold it much lower and its more unnatural.)

Yep, maybe I would get used to it too but I thought about it for 24 hours and came to conclusion that 8 is the way for me now. In 2-3 years those line will probably merge in some way or another and not only will the price be hopefully inline with 8 etc. but the design will get tweak. I actually secretly hope that more people will complain about the notch so apple will consider it and will tweak the design for the next adjusting period (2 years i guess). It really does feel like a sticker stuck on display. :)

Regardless, you guys enjoy your X and I will enjoy my 8 which I'm going to pick up today. Super excited :)
