Thanks for posting this! I tried using the flashlight the other day & it wasn't responding, now I know why, lol!

I wish there were a way to disable them (I haven't found one). I've turned my flashlight on 3 times by accident since Saturday. Yes.. I'm holding it wrong. Squeezing the phone too hard when removing it from my pocket?
There’s a setting to make it a harder or softer press. Adjust to harder.

I don’t understand why the camera button is there.

Apple not being able to let go of Symmetry.

And having just the flashlight button on the left, or at the center is weird.

It would be great if they eventually give us access to customize this. Maybe calculator button, HomeKit shortcut, Car key-fob, Maps, etc.

to answer my own question, if the "Touch 3D" is not "ON" in Settings, you'll not have these 2 buttons on the Locked Screen

HomeKit without unlocking would be awesome! The camera is just a swipe away.

Incidentally, Macbook Pro trackpads have had really convincing haptic feedback for a couple of years now.

Thank you so so much! I had been trying to work on this and couldn’t figure it out. Works now!

It took me a couple days to realize this, so thought I’d just put it out there. The flashlight and camera buttons at the bottom of the lock screen are 3D/force touch, not regular presses. I thought the buttons weren’t working to begin with...

Because the gesture is not obvious.

What benefit is there to the user by making these force touch? If someone needs to get to the camera from the lock screen that means they want to use the camera ASAP, how does prolonging the process, albeit not by much, make it better?

Seems like Apple is desperate to find a use for force touch. Maybe I am missing something.
To avoid pocket touch. You would be taking a lot of photos of your pocket if it’s not activated by 3D Touch but a simple touch.

It is so convincing that I have had one for months and it wasn’t until the other day trackpad didn’t click when the MacBook was turned off that I realised it was haptic.

Happily been using it thinking it was a usually trackpad

Mine doesn't work. It appears 3D touch on my new iPhone X isn't working. Anyone else experiencing this?
Absolutely and I am surprised no one else mentioned this. Sometimes the flashlight and camera buttons work, sometimes they don't. Several hours ago, they did not work on my wife's X, now they do. I texted a pal with an X; same thing w/ him: sometimes works & sometimes not. A restart fixed it for me but who wants to do that every time you want to use the flashlight?

Th

That’s weird, because it’s designed that way so it won’t be accidentally triggered.
I have done this about 50 times! Can you change the flashlight to something else or remove it?

Yes but then you lose 3D Touch all together! I wish we could customize the button

Late to this thread but certainly appreciate your sharing on the subject... for a few months now I thought either the iPhone X was broken or there was a software bug... but now that I just updated to the latest version and it still happens I thought I'd give it a search on the internet and found this article.... Yeah it's an awesome feature since I didn't really want a simple touch of the button would activate the flashlight... kinda children proof for me since my little ones once in a while got a hold of my phone.
