I have several alarms that are set to go off every week day (yes, it takes that much to get me awake). If the phone is locked, there are icons to turn off the alarm and, if I've enabled it, to snooze. But sometimes I start waking up and looking at stuff on my phone while I'm still waking up. If the phone is unlocked and the alarm goes off, I just see a notification at the top of the display that I can swipe to snooze, but don't see a way to turn it off - before I would press the home button, but if I swipe up from the bottom, it just snoozes the alarm.

Swipe the notification left and you'll get two options, as I recall: View and Clear

It's NOT intuitive at all, as you've found as well.

I wasn't able to swipe it either left or right, but swiped down on it a little and then got a snooze and stop option - thanks :)
