Phoned my cellular company today.
In discussion I asked how X was doing.

'how is X doing', it's quite expensive isn't it?

'Sure is, its £350 upfront plus 65 to 75 per month

Wow, I pay that for my electric!

I know, crazy isn't it!

Who the heck are buying these phones?

People who pay way more than 65-75 a month for electric. I think my electric is about 350-400

350-400, what are you doing hosting a Rock concert! Or maybe you own a 15 bedroom mansion!
Sorry forgot, Air Con plays a major factor, nevertheless.... These prices are off the scale in terms of aminities.

I’m confused. What???

Yes. It’s an expensive phone. We know this.

Can these threads be merged?

I’d be more concerned with your phone company. Mine was £80 up front and under £60 a month...

Have you got Coutts Telco with the royal package?

There are other threads like that. $1k is $1k. Nothing to put into perspective.

Yes. The iPhone costs as much as 1000 McDonald hamburgers.
You are missing the point, it's not $1000 is expensive, it's what more important things cost.

Actually its 401 hamburgers... or 358 cheeseburgers.

But more interesting, it costs 4,000 McNuggets, at their lowest price.

If an iPhone X is the first time you’ve noticed consumerism in the world then what rock have you been under?

I could sit here and say a Mercedes is expensive compared to electricity and I’d be right, doesn’t mean some people can’t afford it or don’t want it.

And to be honest, living in London a car is a luxury and a phone is bordering on a necessity in 2017 to maintain employment... May not be the same everywhere but for me an iPhone X is only a part percentage a luxury really.

Well we know who has the highest cholesterol on MacRumors now by you knowing the current cost of a McDs burger and cheeseburger to the penny.

So I should return my iPhone X and only pay for my electric/gas bill, mortgage, car payment....gotcha.

Importance is relative. If you have money to buy food and pay for your house and you can afford a new phone, why not?
I don’t have kids, I don’t have credits to pay off. So..why not buy random stuff every now and then. Be it phone(s), consoles, last minute tickets to somewhere on the planet...
I don’t find that 1000 is that much for a smartphone. It’s the device I use the most during my days. It’s not just a phone. Welcome to 2017. :)
