I gave my sister my old 6s.
She has no problems using the phone outside.
My X is useless. I can't see anything.
Are the new phones any better than the X?

There doesn’t seem to be a huge difference, latest is slightly brighter.

12/12 mini is no good, 12 pro/max is, one reason i swapped from a 12 to the 12 pro max.

I'd say it's better but not something that's fixed 100% (I upgrade every year). I was recently out on a walk when it was really bright and I could barely see my screen when I was taking some photos.

I’m confused. You people are saying you can’t see the screen in sunlight? My 12 Pro is completely visible in direct sunlight it gets very bright. From what I’ve read it’s one of the brightest unless I’m missing something.

Yep. I use it outside all the time and most of the time it's fine. But there's some outside situations where it's crazy bright and having the brightness cranked to 100% doesn't help making the screen more visible.

Yes its definitely the downsides of Apple OLED screens, in fairly bright sunlight i can barely see the screen on my 12 mini. With my LCD iphones no issues at all.

DON’T buy the iPhone 12. Apple told me this is expected behavior. I had my device swapped and screen replacement. They won’t do anything else. After 10 minutes outside the display dims to unusable.

It’s just the 12/12 mini, pro/pro max is good, one reason i swapped from a 12 to a max. Australian sun 😊
