No, usually the day it's available in stores and ships to those who already pre-ordered. In other words, Nov 3rd.

November 3rd, it won't be earlier because they want people to buy the 8, just like the 8 isn't on display currently so people buy the 7.

The 8 and 8 Plus will have the same colours so you could just go look at those from this Friday onwards.

Apple hardly ever puts their new products on display ahead of release date and this will be no exception. I think the original Apple watch may have been the one exception.

If you want to get the X on release day, you'll have to take a leap of faith and preorder it without seeing one in person. That's how it's always been with Apple. At least their return policy is very forgiving.
