Experiencing something weird with email notifications on my iPhone X - when I receive an email, I get the generic alert that just says "Notification". I look at my phone to authenticate Face ID, and instead of the notification expanding to show me the preview of the body of the email, the notification disappears. I can swipe up to get Notification Center to read it, but I shouldn't have to do that. Other apps work correctly - once I authenticate with Face ID they expand and I can read the full content.

My notification settings seem to be fine - has anybody else experienced this or have a fix?

Thanks!

I was seeing the same thing with email that was set up as an exchange server in the mail app. In this case it was a google domain/business account, I was surprised it was "working" as an exchange set up. I changed it to gmail in the mail app and now the lock screen works as expected.

Hope this helps.

This issue has been present ever since iOS11 beta 1. It also happens on other phones with TouchID.

Pretty annoying to say the least, reported it multiple times but no dice.

Having exactly the same issue and it’s really frustrating!

I’m also accessing a corporate gmail account via exchange sync (IMAP isn’t enabled for our domain).

It’s also affecting my iCloud email notifications too...

Same thing happening to me. After faceID match, Mail.app notification goes away on lock screen. I swear it was working properly a few days ago but I could be wrong.

Glad to know I'm not going crazy!

If it makes a difference, my issue is primarily with my work Exchange account. It may be happening with my Gmail (both setup through Mail.app) as well, but I haven't paid close enough attention if the issue is differentiated by account.

Has anyone tried the following fix/workaround:
I have experienced the same problem. I’ve found an imperfect fix. Go into settings -> notifications -> mail. Turn off the “show in history” slider for the affected mailbox. That eliminated the problem for me. Not sure if the fix has resulted in any unintended consequences.

This worked perfectly!

I'm not even sure what turning off "show in history" changes - can anybody explain?
