Hi all,

Just moved to an iPhone X, from an iPhone 7 Plus and have an issue with Messages app notifications. Hoping someone can shed some light on this occurance.

iPhone 7 Plus (iOS 11): I enabled the "Show previews when unlocked" setting. When I get a SMS/iMessage the locked phone screen shows nothing but "Message/Notification" text. The person that sent the message and the message preview is hidden until I unlock the phone and then the sender name and preview is shown. This is exactly what I want.

iPhone X (iOS 11): When the phone is locked the Messages notification shows the senders name, but not the message preview. I believe I have the exact same settings on both devices regarding Messages notification settings.

I am wanting to hide the senders name until I unlock the iPhone X.

Has anyone else noticed this and know how to fix?

Thanks.

You might want to double check on the preview settings to make sure they are set the same.

Also with iPhone X there are attention aware features related to Face ID that can play a role in it all as well.

I can confirm (still for the latest dev beta) and it annoys me as well.

I filed a report in the feedback app, as I'd also expect that the sender's name gets exposed only if face id has succesfully triggered.
