Oh, so are we getting the X?!
Hey J after a ton of thought, I'm going with the 256gb space gray 8 Plus.

If one handed use is your ultimate priority get the iPhone SE.

I'm 6'8 so one handing the 4.7" is a breeze. The plus I'd say I one hand 90%. I slightly shorter, slightly wider X would have been my sweet spot I think.

Cool. I’m going for iPhone X in Space Gray

The SE continues to be a great phone, certainly was when Apple introduced it, but it would be nice to get a flagship model in that size.

I think if Apple gave the iPhone SE all the latest features of the current iPhone models, that would take away the price point of the iPhone SE. Apple wants to iPhone SE to be affordable for India's market and it's primary focus is a four-inch form factor.

I just don't get why they have to conflate the two aspects. I mean, sure, have a cheaper model. But somehow I'd imagine there would also be enough demand for a more expensive phone in a smaller form factor? Personally, I'd find the asking price for an iPhone X much easier to stomach if the phone was physically smaller.

This comment just goes to show how hard it is for phone manufacturers to please everybody.

You'd have less of an issue with such an expensive phone if it had a smaller screen? That would definitely put you in the minority. & Apple aren't going OLED's this early, across such a vast scale, to cater for smaller, dare I say niche markets.

As another forum member indicated, I don't think it's Apple's intentions to provide the iPhone SE with all the latest technology. The whole intention behind the iPhone SE is just to deliver the form factor and keep it updated. The Demand might be there, but even Apple offering a 4 inch form factor is a nice benefit, especially given that most smart phone manufacturers have moved away from smaller phones.

I have pretty small hands and I use my 7+ with one hand and no case the majority of the time. I don't think ill have problems with a smaller phone.

I have enormous mitts and loved one-handed use on my 4.7" 7. Ultimately screen size won out, and I sacrificed reaching the upper left corner with my thumb using the one-handed pinky cradle approach.

Fast forward to the X. While it is barely larger than the 4.7" models, it is nearly all screen. Meaning, if you pinky cradle it, your reach will be near what it is on your plus (except the X will be a bit less wide). That upper bezel that you didn't 'need' to reach before on the 4.7" will now be screen. In other words it'll line up with the height of the Plus screen.

I'll be curious what this means for one handed use and trying to reach above the upper left app to pull down the Notification Center. Particularly with the removal of reachability.

It’s imoossible for 99% of the population.

The iPhone SE is the best iPhone for single handed usage and pocket-ability. On the other end of the spectrum is the plus, which is the least single handed phone (for usage), and its pretty big in the pocket.

The X sits somewhere in between. I can't say how it will work, and since I'll not be buying it, I'll have to just wait and see once the apple store has them as display models.

I believe that it will be much easier to use one handed than my 6+, almost as easy as the 4.7" iPhone. But due to the length of the X, I suspect that swiping down the control and notification centre with one hand won't be as easy.

I receive my iPhone 8 in two days but have already printed out the return label. But yet again i’m back at square one. Are the X’s OLED screen, Portrait Camera and Animojis enough to outweigh the utility of comfortable one-handed use?

I really just can’t decise.
