As stated before, the original iPhone came in one color. iPhone 3G though the iPhone 5 only came in two colors (black [or slate] and white [or silver]). It was only in 2013 that Apple started really expanding the color choices for the iPhone. The iPhone X launched with only two colors almost certainly because of the limited ability to produce any models at all. Now the supply chain seems to be clearing up, but I suspect that the iPhone X will most likely not get a new color.

Perhaps in the March keynote for the AirPower/Wireless Charging AirPods, HomePod, (possible) new iPhone SE, and (possible) iPad Pro and Mac updates, we could see a Product Red and/or Gold iPhone X, but probably not. I would not be surprised of they released a Product Red iPhone 8/8 Plus though, to spice up sales.

Come September 2018, we will see the new iPhone and iPhone Plus, and that is when we will like see an expanded color selection. I don't expect a return to the color palette of iPhone 6s/7 for a few years, perhaps 2020-ish.

Any news on expanded colors for the iPhone X line?

I was shocked that it was just the 2 colors.

It's Possible Apple could release a refreshed iPhone X color during a spring Keynote if they do hold one or they could have a silent update it without a key note with a new color, but otherwise it will likely be next fall 2018 when they expand the iPhone X color lineup.

Do you remember when the Project Red came out for the 7? How long did Apple release the red when the 7 was first released?

I could see a gold edition being released early 2018 along with the rumored SE refresh, assuming that happens otherwise no. As far as other colors, like a red edition probably not.

They need to sell the colorful cases they offer for too much $$$ (as nice as they appear to be).

The color choice is almost irrelevant for most people, but there were some rumors I believe of new colors in March of next year, along with an updated SE. So maybe then.

In March they will release blue gold black red orange yellow green and purple.

No, most of those colors can't be done with PVD. Blue, gold and red work. AFAIK, orange, yellow, green and purple don't work. OTOH, maybe your post was humor, in which case my bad! ;)

The phone just came out, and the color is only on the back - slap a case on the bad boy and you can have any color that you wish :)

actually the thread is for the "Ladies" in my life. I am the Apple nerd in their circle and they are complaining about the lack of gold/rose gold.....

Myself I am always a Gray/Black guy that incases his device...:)

Shocked? I mean come on most people put cases on their phones anyways.

However, your missing the initial attraction when someone is selecting a new phone, color is the initial attraction at first. So color is important initially when somebody makes the decision which model they want alongside with the storage.

In general most guys would agree (me as well) with you. It's blowback from the "Ladies" in my circle that is why I asked...

I hope they produce a model of the iPhone X in the same gold that they do on the 8 family. It’s a very beautiful color, especially in person.

I would like to start a petition for a blue iPhone and it would be nice if the gold leaned towards a copper shade. The current blush gold is almost there, just a slight bit pink still.
