Hey friends,

My iPhone X isn’t charging past 80% when powered on. If I power the phone off it will charge further. Really strange error. Any ideas?

try rebooting it. press volume up and let go, press volume down and let go, then hold the power button until the phone shuts off and resets. If that doesnt fix it then take it to a store for a replacement

If it’s warm, iOS will prevent it from charging past 80% until it cools off to protect the battery.

From Apple
  • Your iPhone might get slightly warmer while it charges. To extend the lifespan of your battery, if the battery gets too warm, software might limit charging above 80 percent. Your iPhone will charge again when the temperature drops. Try moving your iPhone and charger to a cooler location.

Yeah, it’s charging that warms up the phone. No programs are running it’s on airplane mode, and the screen is off. It won’t charge past 80%

Are you using the plug and cable that came with the phone? Are you wirelessly charging? You are sure all apps have been force quit?

Hmm this would explain why my phone was plugged in and I noticed it wouldn’t go past 97% for about 30 minutes. I powered off my phone and back on again and it didn’t work. So I then attempted to hard reset it, which didn’t work because Apple changed the procedure for hard resetting, I had to google it lol. But after hard resetting it continued to charge.

Happened on one of my phones. I just did a hard reset (volume up, volume down, hold power button) and it worked after the reboot.
