Since i have an iPhone X more than once people are complaining they can't hear me when i call them. 'muffled", 'static distortion', 'underwater' 'volume fading away' and 'robot voice' is what i hear from people i'm calling. Yelling in the mic doesn't solve it. I've tried a lot of options. Sometimes call quality is OK. Some people had their X send in but got it back because the device was technically OK. This problem does not occur when on loudspeaker of BT carkit. It's definitely NOT a network problem. Same sim in other phone works flawless. When asked Apple seems not to respond, only a deafening silence. Tried all possible options to solve the problem, up until today without succes.

Hi has your iPhone been near water at all? I recommend you contact Apple support, the live chat is easy to use and won’t need to speak, good luck!

No, my phone was never near water at all. In the Apple support thread you can read that some people even got a new phone from the Genius Bar but that didn't solve the problem. The Apple support thread is almost a "US only" thread but there are similar messages/threads from other countries with the exact same problem.

I have the same issue. I’ve recently found out that when I cover the microphone on the back of the phone (it’s the little hole beneath the flash of the camera) with my finger while calling, the problem is gone and people can finally hear me properly. Very weird. I’ll send my iPhone back for reparation.

My iPhone 6+ has a the same problem. I found that if I used the speaker phone feature and angled the bottom of the phone directly at my mouth, they could hear me fine. It's also a lot more comfortable talking to someone that way instead of holding the hot phone up to your ear
