Hello All,

I recently received my new iPhone X which is great! However, yesterday i noticed when trying to take a portrait photo the focus/blur was kind of glitching all over the item. I found a video on youtube with someone having a similar problem.

Has anyone else had this?

Link below (Please note this is not my phone - but it's the same problem)

Thanks

Sometimes I get the same issue on my 7Plus. I guess it's normal..depends on the subject.

But I also think it's more common since the last OS update.

I still have my iPhone 7 Plus but it doesn't appear to do it. I have noticed though that the X allows you to be much closer to the item whereas the plus would show 'Move Further Away'

I'm running the latest 11.1 update - no beta. Not sure if it's a software problem or not. Apple have advised for a Technician to take a look. However, i wondered if anyone else was having the problem.

No I mean the entire phone and OS is a beta test lol

Yeh i wasn't sure if you meant this. I guess that's the risk of having a new phone. :apple:

Which is why mine got returned. Not about to be Apple's test subject for $1,000... Can use that money to buy a more perfect phone such as the Pixel 2 or the Note 8.

That makes no sense, both have been proven to have inferior displays to the iPhone X by industry professionals lol.

On a test bench, but when looking at the X display 1 degree off axis it turns blue.

Lab test conditions ≠ real world use.

Go take a look at the X and the Note 8 and tell me which looks better to you.

I don't need to because I am not trying to justify my purchase, I'll leave it to the display professionals. I have seen the note 8 screen and its really really nice with lots of saturated pop, just not AS good by professional standards as it is calibrated towards eye candy rather than accuracy. As for the Pixel 2.......well I don't need to be a display professional for that one, it looks like a$$. Saying that though it has great cameras!

I chose the iPhone X but I won't be searching for and posting on Pixel or Samsung forums to justify why. Be better than than man, its just a phone.

Well the Note 8 comes default on a more saturated mode but allows you to switch it to an accurate mode which is actually better looking than the X screen because it doesn't blue shift as badly. Besides being huge and a better aspect ratio for content viewing. I'd take the big Note screen over the tiny cropped X screen all day for content consumption.

As for the pixel 2 the screen only sucks on the XL model. The regular sized one is a display from Samsung...

But since this is a portrait mode thread I was specifically referring to portrait mode and the Pixel simply does it better when it comes to the camera.

LOL cool bro, enjoy whichever you decide to buy. I'm sure your knowledge will be much appreciated over on the respective forums, you seem to be very passionate about it. Preaching on an Apple forum though is probably not the best use of your efforts because most people here (apart from the obvious trolls) really won't be interested on what a Pixel 2 can and can't do. Take my situation for example, why would I buy a Pixel or a Note 8 and lose CarPlay, Continuity, iCloud syncing iMessage etc etc?

Imagine you are a non religious guy and someone approaches you in the street and tried desperately to convert you to their faith, 99% of the time they are wasting their time, but preaching within their own church is a different matter. Just trying to help out as you will inevitably feel frustrated that not everyone here feels the same way as you do.

The thread is about a portrait mode problem. I gave a solution. If you don't like my solution, that's good for you. It wasn't intended to you anyway.

Yeah your reply of 'beta' was a big help to the OP as was your mini rant about switching to a 'more perfect phone', not a very constructive use of your time my friend. Anyway you take care now, I may not see you on here much once you migrate to the forums of your more perfect phones ;)

It was because portrait mode is in beta lol
