No. It’s impossible unless you drastically move the phone around in your single hand which is not how people use smartphones. End of story.
So I'm doing it wrong? :D

Tbh, I use both hands a lot of the time, but it's not a big ask for me to swivel the thing in one hand to reach the top. I've never used the Reachability feature because of this. Maybe I have slightly larger than average sized hands?

Most people hold the phone with little finger under the phone to prevent dropping the phone when holding it one handed. I use reachability instead of moving my hands if I need to reach the top of the screen on my 7+

Are we talkin non plus or plus sizes?

Because with my 6s, I rest the lower left corner in the palm of my hand to stop it from slipping out. Possibly having a longer thumb than normal makes things easier for me..

I have large hands and use it all the time. If its gone from the X that will be a deal breaker for me. I am all about one handed usage.

Will reachability still be available through Assistive Touch, or is it removed entirely?

As I said I use it on my 7+ that should be a big clue I mean plus sizes

Reading all these threads make me happy I’m not picky. So many people on here are way to picky about so many things lol. It’s hilarious
Picky? Or that they know what they want and expect in a $1,000 to $1,200 product. How ridiculous that they hold a discussion about their preferences in an open ‘forum’. Thanks for adding value to the topic.

I have an SE and sometimes I wish I had reachability. iPhones became too tall after the 4s.

I use it quite often, although I have never used it on my smaller iPhone 7.

I'm wondering how much the feature was actually used. I stopped using it after a month. They probably log the clicks, and saw it was a less used feature.

Reachability is most useful for the top left of the screen, where the menu button for many apps currently is laid out. I'm wondering how this impacts UI design for apps.

For the plus reach ability is used daily even with 2 hands.

When you said "most people", you didn't state plus or non plus.

You're speaking on behalf of people who use a different phone to your smart arse self?

One bad design aspect about reachability is that you have to reach down to reach up. What I mean is you try to reach for a button high up on your screen with your thumb, realize you can’t reach it, then you have to reach down to the home button to double tap it, then reach back up. It’s a lot of movement which ultimately discourages you from using it. Something better might be a swipe down on a side edge of the screen. Something along those lines. If Apple puts reachability on the X I hope they rethink it. And I hope it makes its way to the other iPhones.

I’m beta testing 11.1 and reachability is absolutely available using assistive touch. The home button not needed. It’s working perfectly for me and it’s customizable so that it can be initiated with 1 tap, 2 taps, Long press or 3D Touch. Problem seems to be solved.

I'm wondering more how I'm going cope with the keyboard being so low now the bottom bezel will be gone.

Using the popular pinky securing grasp makes the phone unstable reaching down that low with the thumb to type/swipe.
Trying on my 7 Plus, my pinky auto lifts the phone up making it top heavy.

Probs be just like going from standard to Plus you will find it awkward for the first few days but your grip alters to find the most comfortable and useable grip over time.

Oh you’re so welcome. Also, I’m posting my opinion of what I’m witnessing on an open forum no different than anyone else. Have a seat.

Am I the only one who thought something was broken in the software the first time activating reachability on their 6+? it was never a concern of mine. I knew what I was getting into when I bought a larger device.

That’s a good point, but I’m thinking that any other action to activate it would either be unintuitive or too easily activated by accident.

The very best option for people would be to allow us to chose which gestures/actions do what. But I doubt that happens anytime soon.
