I can feel/hear the phone, but it shows a black screen. Tried all the Apple options to fix the situation. Now the flashlight is on and won’t turn off! Amazed the phone still has battery; hasn’t charged since Sunday night. I have an appointment with the Genius Bar tomorrow, but wondered if anyone has had to replace their iPhone X. Do you get one sooner than the 3-4 week wait? I’m back using my 7+ and sure do miss the smaller framed phone!

You will most likely get a replacement on the spot. They keep a separate inventory of phones reserved for this purpose.

Apple stores usually have a stock just for replacements. You should have no problem getting one.

Edit: Oops too late. Good luck.

I've seen this a couple of times now. How long did it work before crapping out on ya? Makes me worry about mine.

I got the phone on Nov. 3 and it stopped working on the 13th. The Verizon store didn’t hear of any issues with iPhone X so far when I went to activate my backup phone. While I was at the Apple store, I was the only one with an iPhone X issue.

Edited: Aquirrd phone on the 3rd; yet purchase date on work order stated Nov. 2.

I'm beginning to wish id taken my faulty one into a shop. I sent it back via UPS in the UK on Monday and they said my replacement is currently in China... after promising me it in 2 days.

I bought mine on the 3rd, got it on the 4th, realized my lock button was defective, took it to an apple store on the 11th, and a replacement phone was available on the 13th.

It was from a white box with an 'N' model number; not a retail box with an 'M' model number. I would have exchanged it for a retail one, but none of the Apple Stores near me had any in stock, so my options were return it and re-buy one whenever I could find one, or replace it under warranty.

It was in replacement packaging. Thin box, only a phone was in it. The plastic was around the phone, like original packaging. Can’t imagine there are any refurbished phones at this point though.
That's rather disappointing since now you have a phone that has mismatched serial number with the original box you have, which slightly lowers resale value...

This is not true lol. Sold tons and tons of iPhones on swappa Craigslist. No one cares. Maybe 1/200+ have asked me if the serial number matches box.

Why would you replace a brand new phone for one in a different box? Do you not realize that with the phone just being released, that the so-called refurbished phones are actually brand new and the only difference (for Apple accounting purposes) is that the replacement phone is in a white box with an N serial number.

Trading one brand new phone for another, just because you want a M serial number is foolish, not to mention wasteful for Apple.

I bet you don't see it. Completely unrelated - kudos for including a Steven Wright quote in your signature. A completely underrated comedian based on what I've seen (although I haven't seen all of his work).

Moving on.

Three things.
1) I did accept the "so-called refurbished" but "actually brand new" phone as an exchange for my defective one..

2)My phone had a physical defect that three apple store employees agreed was a manufacturing defect. So the real "waste" was Apple's doing when the QA bar slipped low enough to ship my phone in the first place. If a "so-called refurbished phone" is "actually brand new" then it doesn't really matter to apple which replacement phone I get in exchange for my defective one.
The Genius Bar employees said I would actually be doing the Genius Bar a favor if I was able to exchange it for a retail unit after they ordered my "refurbished" one, because if I didn't come in to exchange it under warranty then they'd have my unclaimed "refurbished" unit and the next customer to come in with a problem wouldn't have to wait for a replacement unit to be shipped.

3) There is a benefit to returning and exchanging my phone for a new retail one. I was already 10 days into my Apple Care coverage. Returning and exchanging the phone would have acted as buying a new phone with a new start date for Apple Care; essentially getting 10 extra days of apple care for free. That probably wouldn't matter, but if I drop and crack damage my phone 9 days after Apple Care expires, then it will be funny in a sad way.

Cracked my screen, went into a apple store without a appointment and had it replace with a new phone in a thin box the same day

IOS 11.1.2 addresses unresponsive iPhone X screens. If there was a rapid temp change, it was product induced as I hadn’t been using it for a while before it quit on me. Guess others did have problems...
