I wanted to share with you a combination of think case and glass protector that works perfectly in terms of size/dimension.

If you know of other combos that work, please share photos.

Case - Viva Madrid Metalico

iCarez [3D Full Coverage Glass] Screen Protector (white box)

(Don't mix this up with the 2-pack version in red box, which is not full coverage)

Holy hell is the back of this case clear? What is the material on the back? Hard plastic? Does it protect the camera?

Looks good but I have read many reviews of which the full coverage and/or adhesive is interfering with FaceID.

“However, Face ID didn't work at all at first. I finally found that by deleting and re-scanning my face again, I could get It to work, but it misses way more identifications than before. The glass is interfering with Face ID in some way.”

It is a soft high quality TPU. The part around the back camera is raised slightly to protect it when the phone is laid down.

No inference with Face ID at all. I did not do a retraining and has been working 100% like before the protector was installed.

Is there any space between the back of the case and the back of the iPhone? Wondering if I can put one of the thin metal plates in there for a magnetic mount in a car.

It would likely work, since this is a soft case, not hard plastic.

I could not make 2 different iCarez 3D's fit my X. Always one or 2 corners had bubbles. I sent them a message, but they never responded. The 2.5D does a good job with none of the application issues.

May be I was lucky and got a good one? Mine sealed perfectly even after I peeled it off partly to remove dust particles with stickers a couple of times. In fact, it has one of the best quality in bonding compared to the dozen of glass protectors I have experienced.

Are you sure the bubbles you had weren’t caused by dust particles or lint fibres? They have to be removed with the enclosed stickers first. After you make sure there are no debris trapped under the glass, if you still see uneven bonding, try gentle heating with hair dryer.

This looks durable.

Flashy test but most cases now can withstand the same height since increasing the height of a drop after a certain point does nothing because of terminal velocity.

Notice that the test is done with their case and a naked iPhone. They SHOULD have tested it with their case, a naked iPhone, and their competitors case. I wouldn't be surprised if a $15 case on Amazon would hold up just as well.

A couple more photos showing the coverage of the glass protector, without a case.

Well glass causes slight diffraction [bending of light] by basic physics... which is why FaceID does not work well with the glass on covering the screen even though it is transparent.

Also another extreme example of why faceid never worked under water [as some extremist reviewers have conducted, EverythingApplePro, CNET as two fine examples]

faceid worked very well with it covered by this glass, no issues at all. I picked red box because I use case with lips

I've seen the reference to "3D" and "2.5D" in a lot of threads about screen covers. Please explain what those terms mean in this context.

Simply put the 3D is a bit bigger and borderline not case friendly. 2.5D does not extend out as much.

The size.

The 3D (comes in white box) is a bit bigger and goes all the way to the edges of the bezel, and there has “full coverage”.

The 2.5D (comes 2-pack in red box) is about 2mm smaller, and thus it does not go all the way to the edges.

Thanks for the replies. Its sort of an odd way to describe a screen protector, especially since Apple has 3D Touch.

I wonder which size would be appropriate for use with an Otterbox Defender?

Really? I sent them an email bc both my screen protectors (red pack) gave me too many air bubbles... they responded to me within hours & asked for pictures. I sent them & they told me to reorder the item on Amazon. They ended up refunding my money to my bank within 24 hours. They have amazing customer service!

Check out my pics of the 3D one in post #13. Does the otterbox look like it will cover the edges of the glass? If so, get the 2.5D.

I got icarez and aligned it perfectly but it seems like it’s just not cut 100% correctly. Almost if the left side is a hair too short because the black bar covers a tiny part of the screen and the right side is perfect.

Which one did you purchase? Mind posting a picture with a case on so we can see how much off it is?

I got this one: iCarez [Full Coverage Tempered Glass] Screen Protector for iPhone X (Case Friendly) Highest Quality Easy Install [2 Pack 0.3MM 9H 2.5D] with Lifetime Replacement Warranty - Retail Packaging https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074H1MX1Z?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

I’ll post pictures tonight. It is so minuscule that most people I’m sure won’t notice.
