It’s not “constrained by width” as such. The app will scale which means the assets within the app will look and work as per Apple guidelines. Your uploaded image is not part of the app. It just displays whatever you’ve uploaded irrespective of the dimension of the image. Exactly the same way there’s no difference in size between a 4” iPhone display and a 5.5” display. Your image still takes up similar size on the screen. You just see more or less of the app depending on your device screen size. I hope that makes sense.

It will probably be similar in size, just better due to the OLED and higher resolution screen.

Incorrect. As has been demonstrated at length on these forums. There might not be much in it, but to say it’s ’identical’ is objectively false.
