iPhone X showing notifications instead of going to home screen

Hey there,

I wonder if any of you has had my problem. Basically (and this mostly happens when the iPhone is laying flat on the table) when I casually swipe up to unlock, sometimes the interface shows me notifications instead of going the home screen (please note that, when this happens, FaceID works as it should). Has this occurred to any of you? I wonder if maybe I might be swiping up wrong...
