Hey all,

How susceptible to scratching is the stainless steel band on the iPhone X? I have the silver and I’d like to use it naked but I feel the metal band could easily get scratched up. Let’s use this thread and document this over time and see how these iPhones fare over the coming weeks and months.

Well steel has a hardens rating of 4.5, so anything harder than that has the possibility of scratching it.

If it's anything similar to the 316 L stainless steel used on the stainless Apple Watch, it likely will scratch relatively easily pending how one cares for it. Albeit Apple labels the silver stainless bands as the "Surgical stainless steel", its close to 316 L steel. But the caveat is it can be removed with a Cape cod cloth.
