One of the main reasons I upgraded from my 6s+ to my recent 7+ is tat the 7+ had greatly improved speaker volume...and stereo sound.

How is the speaker on the iPhone X compared to the 7+, if anyone can say that’s had both.

The sound of the iPhone X is very comparable to the iPhone 7 with the stereo speakers. The iPhone 8 actually is 25% louder with stereo speakers over the iPhone 7, but I don't know if that applies to the iPhone X, even though they do have stereo speakers as well.

Good to hear, iMatt. Dude over at iMore was telling me the speakers were tinny sounding and hard to hear.
Voice call quality isn't so great - but that seems to be the case with many past iPhones. Music quality is pretty great though. Wondering if they use different DACs for one or the other.

Online reviewers are idiots. They complain that some tiny little speaker doesn't have good bass. Small speakers cannot physically have good bass due to physics.

The iPhone X speaker is very good for a phone speaker. It's louder and clearer than my old 6.

More likely it's the cell phone network that makes it sound like crap. It wouldn't make any sense at all to have high quality hardware for one application and low quality for another. Only thing different about (non-speakerphone) calls is the volume is lower.
