iPhone X store pickup without carrier, possible ?

i am from germany and i will make holiday in the USA (Florida). My holiday will start on 27th October. So I was thinking about to order a iPhone X on the 27th at the US Online Apple Store for pickup in an Apple Store at Florida. But i need a device without carrier lock.
Is it possible to order an iPhone X for pickup in an Store without carrier lock ?
