Hi All, I purchased the iPhone X this past Thursday for my wife. She was using the iPhone 8 since release before this.

She is encountering SUPER BUGS even after this morning's iOS 11.2 update! It almost seems worse now.

The phone is doing actions on it's own, it scrolling to top in photos app, typing passcode is unresponsive to touch or double entries, Whatsapp opens profile photos upon first opening, doesn't let her type, messages disappear, my iMessages to her are incomplete (11.1.3). She is getting very frustrated with the phone and thinking to return. If software issues, could take weeks or more to resolve at current pace.

Is this a one off and due for a phone return or a wait out for bugs which many others are experiencing. Doesn't seem like there are many threads about this. I am thinking maybe it's a screen sensitivity problem or something.

Thing is I am off to China this afternoon and need to return the phone ASAP to avoid going over 14 day return cycle. My iPhone 8+ has no problems with same iOS.

Unbelievable... I'm trying to do a factory restore and the flashlight is turning on by itself, won't let me confirm with iTunes when connected to Mac and all kinds of stuff! WTH...My wife HATES her phone right now...

Sounds like either a serious software level issue (like maybe necessitating a full reset - and did you restore from a backup?)

or

Some janky hardware that needs returning (not like the iPX has an issue, but yours specifically).

I've literally experienced no major issues, and I'm running a restore that has migrated through at least 3 other phones (most recently a 6S+). I'm also a dev, so I'm pretty sensitive to even small issues with behavior/UI/etc., and I spend a significant amount of time in camera/photos/cam+/Focos/Pixmator/iMovie (that seems to be an area you're experiencing issues). I've had mine since Nov 3rd :)

use the official apple support app, they can run a diagnostic on your phone and help resolve

Sounds like a problem with the phone itself. Either take it back to Apple or call support. My iPhone X has been buttery smooth on 11.2. Doesn’t mean there isn’t a legitimate problem with hours.

Your wife’s iPhone X is defective. You need to return it to your nearest Apple store. As Wackery has said, if you can’t get to a store now, raise the issue online or through the app. That way, Apple will have a record of the issues in case you do go over your 14 days.

If you bought it from Apple in the US, this might apply:

Holiday Return Policy
Items purchased at the Apple Online Store that are received between November 15, 2017 and December 25, 2017, may be returned through January 8, 2018.

Thanks guys. I was able to get factory restore working and will try iCloud restore. We restored through iTunes before. I left CC with wife in case she needs to return while I’m away.

You should restore as new, not from a backup. You are likely to run into the same issues again.

If you bought it this last Thursday and paid in full, you are definitely eligible for the extended return period. If you did it on the payment plan, 14 day return applies. I would definitely exchange it if those problems recur.

Ah, yes... Super Bugs.

So confirmed with Apple support. Defective screen. Direct replacement..Thanks to all and yes we should just call Apple support in the first place but wasn’t sure if this was ios issue and was thinking it could have been.
