iPhone X Tied to Specific Account

I just ordered the iPhone X for pickup at my local store and the apple site made me reserve it using my phone number, zip code, and last four of social security number to do so.

One of the windows said that the phone is all ready to go and all I have to do is turn it on and my number will transfer over.

The problem is that this iPhone is a gift for someone else so I dont want it set up under my account.

Is there a way to get it so that its not tied to a specific account?

Also, this is a paid in full iPhone X. It made me choose my current carrier but there is no contract.

Just swap the sim when you give it as a gift. Since you bought it outright (No Contract) there shouldn’t be any issues.

All you need to do is remove the SIM card it shipped with before powering it on so it doesn't activate on your # (which would deactivate your current SIM).

Insert gift recipient's SIM. Done.
