Hello!

Is anyone switching this year from a X to a 11/11 Pro?
I'm over the bridge deciding between the 11 or the 11 Pro. Just too afraid I will miss the OLED, but I just can't seem to justify the price difference between the two models in Europe (11 128gb vs 11Pro 256). Not use how important the telephoto will be...nor how amazing the new AI mode Deep Fusion (exclusive to the Pro?) will be.

Thoughts?

I'm probably switching from the X to the 11.

I actually don't like the steel frame of the X, it's super slippery (without a case) and it gets scratches like hell...
The 11 Pro models have the same construction therefore the same problems. I really prefer aluminium!

I'm also interested in a slightly bigger screen, mostly because of the real screen estate that you get with the 11 (without getting the larger size and weight of the Max models).

Going from OLED to LCD is not a big problem to me. I don't see a real difference.

The Deep fusion is not exclusive to the Pro model. The only difference in the cameras is the additional telephoto lens. That's it.

If I will be upgrading it will be to the Pro. The thinner bezels, OLED screen, higher res screen and extra camera are totally worth it for me. Especially when coming from an X which already had those features. The 11 would feel like a downgrade for me.

But I'm waiting for the reviews first. I didn't upgrade to the XS (first time ever that I didn't do a yearly upgrade) because the differences were negligible. I will only upgrade to the Pro if the camera is on par with the Google Pixels, especially in the low light department.

Thanks! Thought it was exclusive to the Pro versions.

I didn't upgrade to the XS either...just couldn't justify it. But now I am really considering buying a new one, just not sure what to do...

Same issue here...

My wife has an XR and it’s pretty good, but I’m worried I’d miss the telephoto lens and the screen.

Whether that’s worth £300 I don’t know.

Also the 128GB option on the 11 is appealing as I don’t need 256 (which I have on my X).

Then there’s cases - there aren’t any leather cases from Apple for the 11.

Get your point about the screen, however to say it’s a downgrade is ridiculous. The internals between the Pro and the 11 are the same, the camera is the same. You get telephoto on the pro and a more premium stainless steel finish - that and the screen are about your only difference.
However OP would also benefit from increased battery life and a larger screen. It may not be OLED but Apples LCDs are the best in the industry

You have to decide if you want value for money with the 11 or extra features that you may make use of that will cost you a hefty premium with the 11 Pro.

Hey there,

a X user heavily considering the 11.

Sometimes I'm thinking I'm crazy because I'm not sure if I'll miss the OLED display....

Things I'm looking for:

0. Greater Battery Life
1. Ability to unlock Face ID from a flat surface. Not sure how much angle improvement we'll see.
2. Definitely a bigger screen, specially the ability to have an expanded view of the app in landscape
3. Improved cameras specially in low light situations.
4. Better performance. It's crazy how apps get slower thought the years...
5. Dual SIM Support
6. Faster Wi-FI
7. U1 Chip. I really want to use the upcoming tags
8. New NFC capabilities
9. Ability to purchase 128GB
10. Stronger glass. We'll have to see the test to check this claims...
11. Aluminum frame instead of Stainless Steel. That one might seem stupid but I hate how slippery and oily it gets ..
12. Something more colorful, that deep black doesn't help with depression ...

13 (Extra): Apple TV+ :D

The only concern here, in my opinion, is the godamm LCD Display ...
I don't care about telephoto. I don't use it in my X

I didn't say it was a downgrade, I said it would feel like a downgrade ;) Especially with the bezels on the XR and 11 being significantly bigger. And the feel of the stainless steel is, to me, much more premium. That's why for me it would feel like a downgrade.

The Pro's also have much improved battery life now, so I would say the Pro is the best choice coming from a X.

Battery? Depends if you’re talking about the max

  • iPhone 11 Pro – 3190 mAh
  • iPhone 11 Pro Max – 3500 mAh
  • iPhone 11 – 3110 mAh
  • iPhone X - 2716 mAh

Trust me - I have a iPhone X, it’s now becoming sluggish and the camera is useless, especially in low light. The iPhone 11 would indeed be an ‘upgrade’ with the exception of the screen.

Your argument is that the pro is superior to the 11 - well of course!

I would recommend to OP - if you plan to upgrade next year(to the all new design and REAL new features), get the 11 and sell it and lose very little next year.
If this year’s phone is to last you 2+ years then get the Pro.

Going from iPhone X to iPhone 11 (product-red)

Spent 40 minutes comparing X and XR (same form/size/screen as 11) in my hands.

OLED ofc better, but could really get used to the LCD.. its still very nice.

My biggest problem is the bigger bezels.. but the more i played with it the more it didnt bother me...besides, you only notice these differences while having an X/XS next to you

Most likely going X -> new battery and holding out.

I will wait and see what kind of carrier discounts / incentives there are in a few weeks once the initial wave is over. $1k+ for a phone is too much, even with a trade.

I changed my mind and am going to test drive the Pro with the 14-day return window.

The Apple addiction is real - let’s see if they can convince me, otherwise I battery swap.

Same construction but they’ve said it’s new materials. Stronger glass, etc.

As of right now, I'm going to wait until next year. My X is still running great and more looking forward to IOS 13 more than anything else.

My issue with keeping for another year is that I'm very disappointed with the camera... That's mostly why I want to upgrade.

Keeping my X for another year....although I am upgrading my wife's cracked screen X to a green 11, and I almost checked out for a midnight green 256gb pro max for myself, but I resisted the temptation. WILL POWER!

You know when I realized I wanted a new camera? When I bought a secondary phone and I picked the Pixel 3A.

That's probably why I want to upgrade.

X > 11 Pro.

Looking forward to the new camera setup and night mode. Also battery life will be a vast improvement and looking forward to the 6GB RAM (predicted) as apps refresh on the X. Lets hope the Intel modem is not garbage.

The camera on the X sucks and that's what's making me want to upgrade. Will I miss the telephoto lens? I don't even know what it's used for! I plan to upgrade next year, so should I just get the 11? I can't decide....

Decided to go from X to 11:

_ IMHO the Pro lacks some basic "Pro" features, such as USB C and high refresh rate display, that is quite odd since the recent iPad Pro has both, looks almost like Apple is holding that for next year upgrade.
_ The OLED display is nice indeed, but I think I will not miss so much on a 6 inch screen, plus I always apply a matte screen protector on my phone, which downgrade picture quality a little anyway.
_ Battery between 11 and 11 Pro is really similar, I am not considering the Pro Max since is too big for my liking. Both are a huge upgrade from iPhone X.
_ 128 GB is a great balanced option.
_ At the end I am just missing the telephoto camera, which I rarely used on my X, but the camera compartment still get a great boost with ultrawide and night mode.

In my country the difference between the 11 and the 11 pro is 350 euros, comparing the 64 gb models, wich increase when comparing the 128 gb 11 to the 256 gb pro (for me overkill). The telephoto camera is no way worth that much.

I will enjoy my purchase and maybe upgrading again next year if they will come out with a device I consider "Pro" as well.
