Something tells me we won't be seeing the SIM-Free iPhone X for quite some time... Gonna have to use my dad's Verizon account to order one full price.

You're welcome. No you're correct, if you buy T-mobile it's the only model that doesn't require account info and it works on AT&T no problems.
I never knew this. So just to clarify, I can pre-order the T-mobile phone, put my AT&T sim in, my same number /acc't etc will activate, no problem? And it is exact same phone? Same bands or whatever? Thank you for this.

Yea if you buy it outright, no account info needed just take out the T-Mobile sim and put in ur AT&T sim and turn it on.

Something tells me you're WRONG!

Yeh, Apple quietly started selling an iPhone X UNLOCKED carrier-free today.
I'm returning mine now AT&T paid full for a genuinely factory unlocked model.

For what it's worth, I ordered an ATT phone via NEXT directly from apple that arrived mid Nov. I activated the phone and then immediately went to the ATT site to request unlock (which they will do for my particular set of circumstances without blinking an eye) and noticed that my IMEI was coming up as a Motorola KRAZR...went ahead and initiated the request and received a note from the unlock team that my phone was not in the database and to try again in a couple of days....

Thousands of miles later, I insert a foreign SIM into my X and it comes to life no problem even though I never resubmitted the request. Moral of the story....ATT phones direct from apple may not be populated into ATT's database, thus those phones may already be unlocked. Try a different SIM and see...
