I'm currently a plus user for a few years and today I got to try the iPhone X. It certainly is a beautiful looking phone. However I was quite disappointed about the screen size. Here is why.

Taller, but also narrower:

The display of the iPhone X is much narrower than the Plus model. Depending on the apps that you use, this can be a downgrade as the difference in width is not small. Apple simply created a very long iPhone in order to achieve the theoretically larger display of 5"8.

Also the iPhone X is not always taller under all circumstances taller. In "boxed" mode (the iPhone X can stretch to full screen where it embraces the notch or go in a boxed mode where it avoids the notch), the Plus iPhone is taller. In this mode, the iPhone X display gets beaten in all dimensions.

You're holding it wrong:

I seem to have a habit to hold my iPhone in landscape mode using the bezels for extra grip. If you try this with the iPhone X, you're going to cover up the screen. So the only way to use the iPhone X in landscape mode, is to use a less secure grip. Else you're going to loose some of that 5"8 display. I'm not sure if this is a good idea with a $1400 iPhone, but that is the only option.

Before ordering?

If you're an iPhone Plus user, I strongly recommend trying it first rather than blindly pre-ordering it as the 5"8 screen is achieved by stretching a narrow iPhone.

What am I going to do?

I'm going to wait for the iPhone XL or iPhone X plus (or whatever they are going to call it).

The full screen of the X looks better after some time with it even with the notch. However in boxed mode prefer plus.

With apples return policy I’d honestly be fine buying before I try. That goes for anything.

My guess is mostmolisnusers will be perfectly happy. I am, anyway.
