Other iPhone X vs iPhone XS Max Purchase tips

Hello!

So im planning to upgrade to a new iPhone.
Today im using an iPhone 6 plus 128gb (which recently got touch decease) and a Samsung Galaxy S8 for work.

however, im having a hard time deciding if i should get last years X or go for an XS Max insterd.
How much extra $ is the XS Max worth? Maybe someone have had booth?

For me in my country and with some reduced prices i need to pay:
930 dollar for iPhone X 64gb
1230 dollar for iPhone XS Max 64gb
1125 dollar for iPhone XS 64gb

I have also considered iPhone XR, but im having a hard time accepting that low res screen,
835 dollar for iPhone XR 64gb

I know its a tricky question since its much about preference, and i wish i could try them booth out but we dont have that opportunity that you can test it for 14 days here like many on this forum seems to have.

I think a lot of people here have had both, however as you stated, most of this is subjective. You have a plus phone now, do you like the size of that? Either way you are getting the new gestures instead of the home button so that is moot. You have to weigh whether the larger size and better camera are worth $300 to you. Factor in how long you keep your phones for, since you have a 6 plus it seems like you keep them for a while so amortizing the extra $300 will not be that much additional per year if you like the larger form factor.

The max is the true equivalent of a PLUS model.

Regardless of what BS they tried to pitch last year about iPhone X.

I personally would go for the XS, since you have a 6 now it sounds like you don't upgrade very often?? Max just has a bigger screen. Have you checked it out in a store?

If you expect to keep your phone for 4 years, as you did with your 6+, then I'd suggest XS or XS Max. Since you don't have a 14 day return window, you should try to find a way to play with one or the other before buying, as the OLED display does not suit everyone.

I would get the Xs Max. I had the X and upgraded to the Max.

I would try both of them out in store. You are asking a question on a forum where each person is going to be heavily biased. The XS Max owners think the XS Max can allow you to walk on water and the XS owners think the same thing. (This is a joke btw). Really though, you are going to get very biased opinions here. Head to a store, handle the devices, and make a decision that is best for your uses.

If you’re debating the size difference, one thing that you might try is buying a cheap +size case from eBay/Amazon and see how it fits in your pocket, see how it feels to you after carrying it for a few days. You can find cheap +cases for just a few $, it does not need to be a good one for this test.
