I hate nothing more than having to switch through a ton of apps to find what I want. My phone is a critical work tool above all else and I only run about 4-6 core apps at a time 90% of the time anyway.
The list of recently used apps is sorted by (surprise) recency of use. If you must switch through a ton of apps to find the one you want, you haven't used it for a while. It might be quicker for you to open it from the search pane.

Because swiping up means home button now. It’s to prevent accidental killing of apps. No conspiracy theory here.

That's _exactly_ what someone would say who's in on it ...

Constantly going into settings to turn location services off and on depending on whether I am using the app or not? I don't think so.

No they're suggesting to use the location service option, "Only when app is in use".

When an app is poorly executed and only has "off" or "on", I don't use it, turn it off (if that's the case with any app you use, you should contact the developer).

Apps are suspended when not in use though. I'd imagine GPS functionality would be suspended as well.

I was thinking about this and it occurred to me that MapmyWalk continues to run GPS while it is suspended. I always start it and then activate Spotify. I switch back to MMwalk when I am done with the walk to stop it, save the walk, and then I kill it. Stopping the walk might stop the GPS though. I'll have to check that.

It really depends on the type of app. Something like a navigation app will use gps in the background because it has to know where you are even when you’re doing something else. If that’s the case you can kill the specific app, just to be sure but killing every other app is a waste of time.

Yes. That is what I thought. I think anything that uses location services in the background puts a blue bar in the top line of the screen so you know location services are running. I am going to be more observant of that.
