I did a screen recording of this last night. The WiFi signal is constantly flickering between 2-3 bars, even when I'm less than 10 ft from my router. My 7 Plus, MacBook Pro, and iPad Pro all work with 3 solid bars throughout my house. The X has been slow and unreliable in terms of WiFi performance all around. I thought maybe things would be different at my college, but I can confirm it's just as bad there too. I contacted Apple today, but they want me to do troubleshooting at home, so it'll have to wait till tomorrow.

You might be having an issue with the antenna.
My X gives my 3 bars all over my house, and my Airport (5th gen) is in the basement!

I’ve also noticed fluctuations with my WiFi signal strength indicator. None of my other Apple devices show similar fluctuations in the same locations, and the phone’s WiFi network performance seems adequate. I thought it was maybe a software issue with the signal strength indicators, because it seems to be happening with LTE, too, despite the performance being fine.

I have the same issue as well. Seems to be weaker wifi signal and LTE compared to iphone 7 plus i had before.

If anything, I found the X to be far better at holding onto signal and attaining signals from a distance than the 6 it replaced

Same issues here - if I’m beside my router I’m okay, but the second I step out onto my porch my WiFi disconnects and reverts to LTE, while my iPad and even my iPhone 7+ maintain the signal just fine. LTE bars also regularly fluctuate between 1-3 bars even though connection stays fine and I don’t notice any issues.
What’s odd is that when I get disconnected from WiFi, my network doesn’t even show up in the lists of networks to join, or it does for a moment but can’t reconnect.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a software issue to be honest.

I’m also running the public beta which may contribute to the issue.

I have an AT&T iPhone X, and my WiFi network is a 5GHz one - the 2.5GHz network does show up in my WiFi list when I get disconnected. Resetting of network settings doesn’t help.

I’m noticing similar issues. Sometimes I notice it’s randomly on LTE while at home and have to click my network. It connects right away but seems to drop sometimes. I’ve tried multiple routers and other Apple devices and the only thing that seems to have the issue is the iPhone X.

Having same issue here. Disconnected from router and goes to LTE even in the next room and when all other apple devices remain solid. Anyone try to return their X because of this?

I have the same issue on my iPhone X as far as the wifi status icon flickering like that, but performance seems to be unchanged and unhindered. Don’t know what that means though.

I’ll be on WiFi at home then all of a sudden it will be on LTE. I have WiFi assist turned off. Not sure why it would switch, but it’s happened several times.
I’m seeing this too. Wifi signal drops from 3 bars to 2 or 1 then briefly to LTE before reconnecting to Wifi. I’m right next to the router. Happens about once every 30 minutes or so.

Did you get it figured out?

I’m having no issues with my X on wifi, but I’m using a Gigabit router, and I’m only 20-30 ft away but on a different floor. I’m usually seeing 3 bars, but if i move to the far end of the house it will drop to 2 bars.

I gave my old 7+ to my daughter, so I was able to compare (using Speedtest) the wifi on her 7+ with the X side by side and simultaneously today. Ran the test about 10 times and they were very close. Was getting between 200-400 MPS with ping of 10-15ms on average on both devices. Based on the test i have to conclude there is no difference in wifi capability of the X versus 7+.

To be clear, I don’t think I am having any connection problems. I’m just experiencing some weird animation “flickering” with the WiFi icon. Don’t know what’s going on. If it’s my router or if it’s the phone and it’s ability to latch on to a strong signal. I’m more inclined to believe it may be my router because I don’t experience the “flickering” that much on other routers that I am connected to and that are further away than my router is located.

To update this a bit, it seems like the latest dev build of iOS 11.2.5 (15D5046b) may have mostly resolved this for me, since updating my phone doesn’t seem to be dropping from WiFi to LTE as much lending credence to my theory that it is a software problem. It still happens occasionally but not nearly as often, and not with the consistency it was before where every time I closed the door of a room I’d walk in to and attempt to load a webpage it would always disconnect. Is anyone else on the public beta and seeing similar improvements?

Same here, the X drops from wifi, when i pick it up and unlock it, it goes back to wifi.
I am using 5Ghz, and all my other devices stay connected. Including my blackberry.
