Hello. I have a month-old iPhone XR, and today I noticed that when the phone is set to Vibrate on Silent, right after I slide to answer a call, the vibration stops and then I immediately hear and feel 2 or 3 quick clicks that seem to be coming from the bottom part of the phone.

Upon testing, this seems to happen around 90% of the time. It doesn’t seem to happen with Vibrate on Ring, but I haven’t tested that enough.

Is anyone else having this issue? Thanks.

Sounds like something related to the haptic engine. Check your sound settings and see if you have any custom vibrations.

Regarding the ringtone vibration, I do have it set to “Alert” instead of the default one (Synchronized).

Ok. So it doesn’t click when answering a call with vibration turned off.

It does do it when vibration is on and set to either the Alert vibration or the default Synchronized setting.

It does do it with the ringer on or off with vibration on.

It does do it with haptics turned on or off with vibration on.

The clicks are still inconsistent. Sometimes one but usually three and there’s no consistent pattern.

I wouldn’t think it would be due to software since it only started happening yesterday.

Anyone else with the same issue or opinions from others as to why it’s happening?

Thanks again.

I realize no one cares as is illustrated by the lack of replies. Or maybe no one else had this problem.

But good news... the store couldn’t fix it and gave me a replacement. Now... I don’t know if it’s brand new or not (white box). The model number denotes it’s a replacement phone but who knows what that means.

Anyway. Have a great Apple day.

Yeah, it’s frustrating. My haptics in general don’t work right half the time.
